BART STATION VISIONING,
Livermore CA
Vargas Greenan for FTS Urban Design

The City of Livermore was faced
with exploring new BART
alignments for the future
extension of the Dublin/
Pleasanton line.  In order to
determine and analyze the
potential impacts and
opportunities to the city master
planning of the candidate station
areas was performed to illustrate
the schemes to the council and
the public.

The City Council ultimately made a
formal recommendation to pursue
the downtown station location to
BART following an extensive
public process.  The master
planning shows the new station
area’s opportunity to continue the
downtown’s revitalization with an
iconic station building with public
green that connects to the
entertainment district.
The downtown  alternative introduces a fine grained TOD with architecture consistent with the historic city
center
A second station location introduces a contemporary workplace district anchored by the BART Station and plaza
