FACADE, Oakland, CA

The  MacArthur Blvd façade
improvement project proposes the
re-use of a former County of
Alameda Welfare office into a
distinctive City of Oakland library.

The 20,000 square foot tilt up
building had been vacant in recent
years and the dated appearance of
the façade needed a face lift in
order to appeal to prospective
tenants.  One option explored
relocating a neighborhood library
branch. Strategic improvements to
the façade maximize the
investment without having to
change the structure in a
significant way.
