The Alameda architectural standards
and guidelines were developed for the
Historic Park Street  and  Northeast
Waterfront Districts to preserve and
enhance their historic  character and
ensure that  new development is
sensitive to the  qualities of Alameda’s
architectural heritage.

The document is divided into nine
parts, depicting the predominant
architectural styles with detailed
facade elevation drawings and
narrative describing the primary
building elements.  Included are
recommendations for building types
and details of the style qualities for
massing and articulation, building
materials, roof treatment, windows and
window articulation, facade elements
and ornamentation.

Case study before and after facade
improvements were included to
demonstrate improvements to two
building types within the plan area.
